On the road and trail, more than 1,200 Riders united – safely apart – for parents, spouses, friends, and loved ones. Since 2015, our unstoppable Ride community has raised $5.9 million net to transform cancer care. All for our mission to continue to build a QEII centre of excellence in cancer care, equipping our healthcare teams with the most advanced technology available to help conquer this devastating disease.

Photo: Logan MacLean was the 2021 top youth fundraiser in BMO Ride for Cancer. Even at the young age of 12, Logan already knows how devastating cancer can be for families.

Cancer is a disease that’s deeply rooted in our genes. And with more than 200 different types of cancer, no two tumours or diagnoses are alike. BMO Ride for Cancer led the charge to introduce new genetic sequencing technology to the QEII to analyze the genes of tumour samples. This will help identify the most targeted and effective treatments for cancer patients based on their tumour’s genetic makeup and unique cancer type.

Better outcomes, fewer side effects, access to a new therapy or clinical trial are all benefits this technology brings to patients. Knowing how a cancer might progress and the treatment it may best respond to, will save lives.
