IN PLANNED GIFTS TO CREATE A LEGACY OF HEALTH CARE ADVANCEMENT AT THE QEII

Gilles Nault spent decades witnessing top-notch, compassionate care at the QEII throughout the healthcare journey of his late wife, Darla. For more than 20 years, she received comprehensive treatment for a rare autoimmune disease and later, for stomach cancer. His eldest son received treatment for epilepsy, while Gilles himself also underwent care for the same condition.

Wanting to show appreciation for the outstanding care his family has received, Gilles has supported many QEII Foundation projects, like the QEII’s Sunshine Room for cancer patients. He now joins our QEII Legends, leaving a gift in his will to the QEII Foundation to advance care for years to come. He’s happy to help uplift care teams who support patients and families — today and in the future.

Gilles hopes to set a standard of giving back for his 26-year-old son, Caleb, inspiring him to carry forward a legacy of gratitude.

We are proud to honour and remember the following individuals — our QEII Legends — from whom we received a gift in their will or estate in 2025-2026. Their generosity is igniting positive change in health care today and for the future.

  • Lloyd & Christine Aikenhead
  • Jacob “Jack” Baig
  • Gerald & Frances Chaulk
  • Myrtle DeMings
  • Ralph Fahey
  • Catherine Geldart
  • Hazel & Edward Grimm
  • Hilda Hoegg Foundation
  • Lucille Kerr
  • Maureen Leunes
  • Kenneth Robert Reid Moreash
  • Arnold & Christine Selway
  • Elaine & Fred Walker

Several gifts were received from individuals who have chosen to remain anonymous. We are grateful for their incredible support.

Because [my son] has had his own healthcare journey, I show him through example, how to give back to the people that took care of him. So that way, one day when I’m gone, he can give back to the healthcare community.
