Victor Goldberg remembers his friend, Jacob “Jack” Baig, as a quiet man of simple taste. After living a fulfilled life with a “live and let live” attitude, Jack passed away in 2023 at the age of 97. He’d been a generous man throughout his life and his charitable spirit will continue for years to come.

As his lawyer and friend, Victor was honoured to facilitate Jack’s wishes as the executor of his will. Jack had spent some time in the QEII 20 years ago, and again in the months leading up to his passing. He was grateful for the care he received and recognized the importance of the hospital for Nova Scotians.

This year, through the Innovation Catalyst Fund, Jack’s gift supported the QEII Foundation’s Innovation Den.

This pitch-style competition awards funding to local innovators and healthcare teams for their ideas that have the potential to transform local care and provide global solutions to improve the lives of patients.

While being remembered as a “legend” may have made Jack blush, gifts in wills to the QEII Foundation help create a legendary impact at the QEII.

It’s an honor to be named Jack’s executor and to fulfill what he wanted to do upon his passing. The charities named in his will, including the QEII Foundation, either impacted him personally or he considered vital to the community in which he lived.
