RAISED THROUGH 2024 BMO RIDE FOR CANCER EVENT
September 28, 2024, marked the 10th anniversary of BMO Ride for Cancer, where more than 1,000 cyclists, 200 volunteers and 12,611 generous donors helped raise $2.6 million net for QEII cancer care — smashing all previous fundraising records and making BMO Ride history.
The Ramia family stepped up in a big way, contributing a $600,000 matching gift in support of liquid biopsy research; a revolutionary approach that will help detect whether a patient is cancer-free after surgery or the earliest signs that their cancer has returned all through a simple blood test.
Thanks to donors like the Ramia family, who contributed an additional $50,000 on top of their $600,000 matching gift, and our 2024 BMO Ride community, this liquid biopsy project has the potential to spare patients from unnecessary treatments, improve survival rates through earlier detection of cancer recurrence and keep care closer to home as patients can undergo this blood test in any community in Nova Scotia.
