granted for education support

The Diversity in Health Care Bursary program is one example of donor commitment to education for healthcare professionals — today and in the future. Since 2018, these bursaries have supported 164 students on their learning journey and many past recipients are now working in Nova Scotia, helping create an inclusive healthcare system that is reflective of our communities.

“I believe with my strong values of social equity and advocacy, and my love for our Nova Scotian community, I will be able to make a difference in our health care moving forward.”

– Sean Wang

Sean always knew he wanted a career centred around working with people. As a future physician, Sean shares the values encouraged in medicine — open-mindedness, advocacy, empathy, community, and life-long learning. Grateful for donor support, Sean also acknowledges his family, who worked very hard — holding down multiple full-time jobs and taking classes to learn English — to help him get where he is today.

The QEII Foundation Diversity in Health Care Bursary program fosters employment through education, reducing social barriers, and creating opportunities for people and communities. By investing in people, we attract and maintain the best healthcare professionals in the country and, often, the world.
