Legendary Impact
Supporting health care for generations to come
Pictured: Family rooms, like the one pictured, offer a space where a loved one can take a break from the bedside, a patient can sit quietly away from hospital activity, or healthcare teams have sensitive conversations with loved ones and patients. This room was one of 27 family rooms rejuvenated at the QEII Halifax Infirmary thanks to an estate gift.
received from gifts in wills
Every person who leaves a gift in their will to the QEII Foundation is helping to transform health care for future generations. It’s a legendary act of generosity. A gift in a will — even as little as one per cent — helps to ensure the best, most innovative care is available now and in the future. Wills and estate gifts have a direct impact on patients.
“Family rooms are safe, calm spaces that provide a break from what is happening on the floor and a location for important conversations between healthcare providers, families, and patients. These conversations are critical to patient-centred care. So, in that way, family rooms have a direct impact on care.”
– Jasna Jamshidi, QEII health services manager
Through an estate gift, the late Barbara Hadley’s generosity has transformed 27 family rooms at the QEII’s Halifax Infirmary. An incredible legacy that will impact every person — patient, loved one, and healthcare provider — who steps foot into these much-needed spaces. Every room has been refreshed with an intention to create calm, functional areas to support patients and families during their healthcare journey.
