PROVIDED THROUGH GIFTS OF SECURITIES

Tom and Bridget Brennan, long-time supporters of the QEII Foundation, are helping to shape the future of innovative health care in Nova Scotia with a recent gift of securities.

Having each received life-changing care at the QEII, the couple was inspired to give back. This year, their gift of stock will help fund two cutting-edge QEII advancements — transportable MRI units and Canada’s first StarGuide Hybrid SPECT/CT nuclear medicine scanner.

While Nova Scotia has done great things to make MRI scans more accessible, two new transportable units will help increase scanning capacity and bring services to communities with the greatest need. The StarGuide SPEC/CT scanner, the latest advancement in nuclear medicine technology, offers enhanced precision for diagnosing and treating serious conditions like cancer and heart disease, positively impacting the lives of more than 4,000 QEII patients each year

It’s an honor to be named Jack’s executor and to fulfill what he wanted to do upon his passing. The charities named in his will, including the QEII Foundation, either impacted him personally or he considered vital to the community in which he lived.

WHAT DONORS ARE MAKING POSSIBLE:

Enabling a Canada-first milestone in June 2024, when the QEII became the first health centre in Canada to acquire a StarGuide nuclear medicine scanner.

Increasing access to critical MRI scans in more communities across Nova Scotia and bringing care closer to home thanks to transportable MRIs.

Impacting nearly every QEII care area, 74 donors gave through gifts of securities in 2024-2025.
